ABSTRACT
Notwithstanding the obvious preference, on all occasions, paid by Dr. Sourby, and the other tutors, to Forester, our hero’s engaging manners had gained him the attachment of all his / compeers, and the envy of the squire and his brother aristocrats. Some instances of the latter had irritated Tim’s mind, and prepared him to embrace an opportunity of retaliation. In particular, our hero’s conviviality had drawn to his rooms some select friends, who had been rather too free with the bottle, and were indulging themselves, when the squire took occasion to enter the room, with the excuse of borrowing a book, but in reality to see who were present.
