ABSTRACT

The morning which had witnessed the melancholy conclusion of Edward Thornton’s life, awakened Sir Charles Euston to a thousand hopes of happiness in the union which that day was to complete; and whilst his heart swelled with the sincerest affection for Dorothea, the self-confidence such a man must naturally maintain, dispersed the doubts which had occasionally arisen from her odd slights and fancies, to cloud his hopes.
