ABSTRACT

A multicultural perspective would cause psychologists to analyze how their own culture determines the research focus, the research methods, and the interpretation of conclusions. Both Singapore and the European Union support multilingualism as part of their multicultural strategies. A goal of both organizations has been fabrication of feelings of Euro-nationalism through education and cultural activities. The number of European languages is a major problem in creating cultural unity. The ability of post-secondary students to study in any country of the European Union is important to building cultural and economic unity. The provisions for equal treatment of university and college students provides an opportunity for students of Member countries to mingle and share cultural perspectives. Clarity in cross-cultural communications is very important for global corporations and governments. One major cultural difference affecting communication between Japanese and Americans is the cultural frame of reference regarding the relationship of the individual to the group.
