ABSTRACT

The Commercial Information Library of the British Tourist Authority has produced a striking cover for its short guide to library and information services (LIS). It has bold black lettering on a white background and even before looking inside the leaflet the reader can see which subjects are covered by the service. The guide to the Information Services Department at The Children's Society was the result of consultation with the in-house Publicity and Design Department, which was found to be extremely helpful. Full justice cannot be done in reproducing this guide in black and white. It makes good use of colour simply be adding yellow to the information logos, that is the books along the bottom of both sides of the sheet. Heriot-Watt University's LIS promotes its range of non-print services and non-print guides through a simple printed leaflet.
