ABSTRACT
This chapter postulates the existence of a Christology of the self across Meiji and Taishō literary discourse. The chapter examines in detail the case of Mushanokōji Saneatsu and how this writer sought to define himself through analogical representations of the persona of Jesus. Primary sources covered in this section include his novels Yesu (Jesus) and Kōfukumono (A Happy Man).
