ABSTRACT

This chapter discusses best policies for the achievement of full employment, as well as obstacles on the road to full employment. It presents a coherent package of stimulus and institutional changes to improve the American economic situation. The chapter shows how their money has been used to stop general bills for employment creation and derail necessary reforms in each sector, including health care. The health insurance corporations make hundreds of billions of dollars in profits, and their rate of profit is far above the US average for any other corporations. The health insurance companies used their vast resources to intentionally mislead the American people about the Obama plan. In addition to the democratic control through federal, state, and local governments, democratization may be accomplished by cooperative enterprises. The corporations are run not under democratic goals but as an oligarchy for the good of the ruling group of stockholders.
