ABSTRACT

This introduction presents an overview of the key concepts discussed in the subsequent chapters of this book. The book discusses the different types of complexity, their dynamics and how to spot each type of complexity at play. It shows how changes in complexity affect strategy execution in general and strategy execution processes in particular. The book also discusses the 12 different processes used to execute strategy. It analyses the role of strategic leaders in the efficient and effective functioning of each particular process. The book describes how employees can maximise their contribution to strategy execution within each process, if they are not yet a designated strategic leader. It explores the ways strategic leaders can combine different processes to thrive in complex environments and the particular activities they can drive to supercharge their organisations’ strategy execution efforts.
