Once the fitting is complete, the original pattern must be altered. The marks and information must be transferred from the mock up to the pattern, and the pattern adjusted accordingly.

For simple alterations, like the one seen in Figure 12.4, the pattern can be altered based on measurements. For example if a seam is being let out different amounts throughout its length, measure the amount let out at the beginning of the seam. Next, measure a specific distance along the seamline, and check how much is let out at that point. Continue to the end of the seam then transpose this information to the pattern.
