ABSTRACT
This chapter introduces the reader to the authors own NLP model and how it was initially developed, through personal experience and structured through reflection and review. It acts as a precursor to Part 3 of the book where the author talks more fully about this model. The author shows us how his model developed and shares his personal discoveries by writing in the NLP literature and how he used basic statistics to discover patterns in the data he collected so as to create meaning and provide shape for the emerging model. In this chapter too there is an exploration of two sides of a coin, process and content as well as a discussion concerning the lack of testing in a modality that claims to have testing at its very centre. Even though NLP is placed squarely in the anti-positivist and ideographic camp concerning epistemology and methodology, the fact ontologically it is realist provokes a discussion concerning the need to adopt positivist processes to test the NLP claims currently made.
