ABSTRACT

This introduction presents an overview of the key concepts discussed in the subsequent chapters of this book. The book provides an account of the three dimensions. It describes reflect upon coaches' self-as-coach in the context of these dimensions and to consider the following questions: What is coaches' current approach to coaching? What forms of coaching do coach practise? Who is coach becoming as a coach? The book explores different approaches to coaching. The traditional approach is based on conventional wisdom. Coaching is positioned as a set of skills and competencies, defined primarily with the one-to-one coaching relationship in mind. It reviews different aspects of practice. The book also provides start with individual coaching and considers the different approaches likely to be adopted by traditional, dialogic and systemic coaches. It explains looks at how the coaching practitioner can add value at the organisational level.
