ABSTRACT

In this chapter, the authors outline various approaches the systemic coach might experiment with when asked to work with an individual. They provide a similar transcript for systemic coaching and presents a mini-case study. The systemic coach is very aware that when working on an individual coaching assignment, the lens through which he is experiencing the organisational system is narrow. The systemic coach welcomes the opportunity to talk to the client sponsor, to access another's perspective on what's happening in the organisation. The systemic coach looks forward to engaging with other coaches working in the same organisation. Each coach will have a different perspective, based not only on their different lenses, but also their unique insight into the functioning of the system. Reaching judgement based only on a fragment of a coaching assignment would be risky.
