ABSTRACT
The chapter will focus on the leading sociologist of contemporary peace research. The aim is to show the connection between his personal history, his methodology and his theories of peace and conflict. His holistic thought will therefore be considered from various perspectives: the theory of violence, the theories of peace and conflict and the “transcend” method, and the theories of development, civilization and peace economics.
