ABSTRACT
In this chapter, the authors focus on the bullying problem in Portugal and Spain, they suggest that need for such a multidisciplinary and multicultural approach. They attempt to define the problem, along with social and educational issues relative to each country. The authors consider bullying as a chess game, played on different boards, with its roots in diversified fields. Bullying does exist in Portugal. These statements also clearly reveal a kind of psychological violence - a certain relation between pupil and teacher that does not often appear in bullying studies, although it fits within a definition of bullying. The tutor is always a teacher who knows the group, both as a teacher inside the class as well as outside it through organizing activities and trips, meeting the parents, counselling and attending to personal problems. The tutor-teacher is required to become an expert in handling social, human and academic problems.
