ABSTRACT

Working with anxious children and young people in a small group requires judgement and sensitivity. An adult taking on work with vulnerable children should be sure they have the skills and support necessary to help the children and young people gain confidence and develop skills. It may sometimes be possible to have a second adult supporting the group. This may be particularly helpful if the facilitator is not known to the children but the second adult is familiar to them. We would also suggest reading the relevant part of Chapter 6 before beginning the work.
