ABSTRACT

Planning is possibly the most important part of a successful trip, especially when students are taking students along for the adventure. Planning the trip can be time consuming and is not the most exciting part of our workload; it entails considering every detail of travel and teaching, but it ensures the stories told upon students' return are the ones their hope for. Successful trip planning requires students have a reasonable timeline for everything from planning to execution. A reasonable timeline will enable students to advise students to start planning and saving for a trip if they were interested in going during their undergraduate career. For any given course-based study abroad trip, a year-long planning timeline is recommended. Having a reasonable and realistic timeline is essential to any trip planning. Also crucial to the planning, execution, and success of the trip is to determine the cost of travel and to have an itinerary very early in the planning process.
