ABSTRACT

i shall make no detailed recommendations to teachers of girls. For one thing, I have no experience of day-to-day teaching in girls’ schools. During the past six years I have seen many literature lessons by women students in girls’ schools, and have sometimes tried my hand at a lesson in such schools. This experience, but much more so the evidence provided by this investigation, suggest that the recommendations 1 on teaching boys aged 12+ to 15+ are applicable, with appropriate qualification, to the teaching of girls of those ages. I am confident that women teachers who accept this evidence and the deductions from it will be more capable than I of applying them to their classes.
