ABSTRACT

In stage 5, the therapist serves as monitor, supporter, and consultant. Deployment of the plan is monitored to support follow-through of all participants and to ensure implementation integrity of intervention strategies. Sometimes behaviors get worse before they improve (e.g., extinction bursts), and the therapist may need to support parents and teachers in persisting through the challenging change process. Data collection and progress monitoring are supervised. Additional consultation and troubleshooting addressing challenges in plan implementation may be required. In subsequent conferences, the prior stages of PPC may need to be partially repeated to design an effective modified intervention plan. Other community resources, including community-based child and family therapists, may be invited to a follow-up session.
