ABSTRACT

This introduction presents an overview of the key concepts discussed in the subsequent chapters of this book. The book argues that a technical licensing framework, based around digital watermarking, could address many of the intellectual property (IP) law issues that are currently limiting investment into 3D printing (3DP) within China. It discusses a transcript of the workshop organised at Ningbo Sofitel Hotel Conference Hall. The book addresses that there should be a requirement to apply a doctrine of 'information justice.' It also argues that machinic technologies such as digital watermarking pose a challenge to the traditional relationship of the State and the individual. The book explores that regarding 3DP biotech works, works that bear a resemblance to the human body which fall within the 'uncanny valley' may also fail to gain copyright protection. It examines a transcript of the December 2016 Shanghai conference.
