ABSTRACT

The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), Nuclear Energy Agency (NEA), and EURATOM are three main organizations that deal with standard-setting, inspection and technology transfer in nuclear energy. These specialized organizations were created to set technical standards and regulation of nuclear energy which is highly risky and requires special safety measures. Apart from these three main intergovernmental organizations, there is one important non-governmental organization: the International Commission for Radiological Protection (ICRP), and two other intergovernmental organizations, the International Labour Organization (ILO) and the World Health Organization (WHO), which are also concerned with radiation protection.
