ABSTRACT

Human rights concerns have become prevalent in the years since the end of World War II and this has led to the development of international law and international organizations surrounding human rights law. Although there has been a rise in the discussion of human rights during this time there has also been a consistent stream of human rights violations, in wartime and peacetime, on a grand scale and an individual scale. This Chapter discusses the ways in which treaty – based bodies and specific regional systems have been created to address human rights issues in the international organizations context.
