ABSTRACT
This chapter explores the significant role of the private sector in investigations of crime and related behaviours. The chapter brings together some of this small base of research to expose the extent of private investigations and who engages in it. The chapter begins by exploring the key actors who engage in private investigation and the types of investigations they are involved in, before considering the tactics they use.
