ABSTRACT

Integrating music with other subjects in the curriculum is a continuing, but expanding focus for the school curriculum. Infusing technology offers numerous ways to make connections with music and various subjects. In addition, many music programs in the primary grades incorporate specific curricular approaches. Three European approaches – the Dalcroze Approach, Orff Schulwerk, and The Kodály Approach are adapted and implemented in America’s schools. The Music Learning Theory developed American E. E. Gordon offers an outline of a process for learning music beginning in early childhood. All approaches are described and illustrated in this chapter.
