ABSTRACT

Future Heritage is a cultural exchange project between Berlin and Ramallah, linking cultural traditions to global opportunities and maker culture to craftsmanship across the fields of visual arts, handcrafts and technology. In a one-year collaboration, Sally Abu Bakr and Jasmin Grimm, explored together with artists and craftsmen and craftswomen the role of identity and heritage in the digital age. As heritage is an important component of cultural identity and narrative, we highlighted the Palestinian heritage, which is fading. ‘Future Heritage’ seeks to explore new ways of articulating and distributing cultural heritage within the context of the Palestinian political situation.
