ABSTRACT

The calculation methods used for the wave run-up stipulated in Chinese codes have some defects, especially under long-wave conditions. The formulas with relatively limited applicability also do not take long-wave conditions into account. Therefore, there is a large deviation between the calculated value and the actual result, which may result in some potential safety problems. In this study, we investigate the influences of different types of protective facings of the sloping breakwater on the wave run-up under irregular wave conditions by performing a series of sectional physical model tests. The main contribution of this study is to propose the correlation coefficient of protective facings and provide a theory reference for the design of bank revetment on the river-side slope, which is on open-water areas.
