ABSTRACT

One in seven couples in the United Kingdom experience difficulty in conceiving. Many of them will require in vitro fertilization (IVF) treatment that the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) recommends as the effective treatment for prolonged unresolved infertility. In the year 2014, 52,288 women had a total of 67,707 IVF cycles in the United Kingdom. The year 2014 saw a 4.8% increase in the number of IVF treatment cycles performed compared to the year 2013.
