Rehearsal records of Anatoly Efros’s production of The Seagull at the Lenkom Theater, 1965–1966

These records were written more than 40 [now 50] years ago, solely from interest in the work of the director.

It has been known for a long time how it difficult is to transfer the secret of the birth of a production on paper. Nevertheless, such attempts do not cease and, as it happens, they appear to be reasonably useful. Sometimes theater rehearsals show a special creative universe that is difficult to comprehend until the end, but living inside it is akin to good luck personified.
