ABSTRACT

A Pump Curve (Developed Head versus Flow) and an Overall Efficiency Curve (Efficiency versus Flow) were developed for a Bomba DP-50 regenerative centrifugal pump. The flow varied from 35 L/min at the unrestricted flow condition to 0 flow at the shutoff condition, where the developed head was 34 m. The maximum overall efficiency occurred at a flow of 18 L/min and a developed head of 15 m. This pump is ideal for laboratory and classroom testing because it is small (17.8 × 20.3 × 30.5 cm (7 × 8 × 12 in)) and it can be currently purchased on eBay for $30.95. The entire test apparatus cost less than $100.
