ABSTRACT

Fallacies are the “black sheep” of the argumentation family. The black sheep shows up at get togethers, causes a stir, and embarrasses everyone. At best, he or she seems awkward or out of place. At worst, the black sheep is a degenerate or reprobate. This could be due to a character flaw or a failure to conform to the family’s expectations. Either way, the black sheep is still part of the family. It’s difficult to ignore or exclude the person entirely.
