ABSTRACT

The identification of relationships between variables and the nature of these relationships is an indispensable part of the study of archaeological spatial phenomena. Various types of and methods for correlation and regression analysis serve this purpose. This chapter gives an overview of bivariate correlation and bivariate linear regression with Ordinary Least Squares (OLS) methods. It also explains particular issues due to spatial autocorrelation that occur in spatial applications of these methods and presents some of the approaches to deal with these issues.
