ABSTRACT

This book has been about a new type of business value creation. The frugal value created by pioneering companies delivers customer satisfaction while creating a successful, worthwhile business. The pioneering company contributes to absolute resource use reduction, develops models that support steadiness of resource use, and helps to build socio-economic resilience. In doing so, it addresses the great challenges of our time and plays a positive role in the transition to a sustainable society. The creation of frugal value is what today’s “genuinely” sustainable business is all about; to fulfil its promise, the discipline and practice of sustainable business must take the challenges of our age seriously, and strive to adopt the sort of interventions described throughout this book.
