ABSTRACT
This chapter chronicles the history of the Association of Independent Video and Filmmakers (AIVF), the organization that published the print magazine The Independent Film & Video Monthly from 1976 to 2006, and the organization Independent Media Publications that was established to continue the publication online since 2006. This chapter offers a unique perspective and grassroots history of the magazine and its underlying organization.
