ABSTRACT
Working pace is a factor of great importance in industrial efficiency. The gap between the Continental and the British working pace was considerably less than the gap between the British and the American pace. With the spread of unemployemnt came slower working pace. The workers' morale, the improvement in working pace, the will to work, was for Hitler, as for anyone else with a national goal in view, the first necessity. Hitler suppressed every element in Germany which was identified with a class fighting for a class or raising any class-war cries. The situation in France was deteriorating even more rapidly than in Germany, from what had been for so long a very much better position. The officers in the German Army were recruited almost entirely from the Junkers or Prussian ruling class. The leaders in industry were also recruited from the ruling classes, but they were not predominantly Prussian nor was that rule without exceptions.
