ABSTRACT

This chapter explains the process of videoing healthcare practices. It describes the kinds of technologies. The chapter discusses the different styles of videoing that are available. It addresses the practical dimensions of storing video footage. The chapter deals with a note on video-reflexive ethnography’s (VRE) approach to analyzing video footage. VRE makes these habits and customs visible, and it does so precisely to strengthen people’s ability to become aware of and intervene in the things they have ‘learned to forget’. One of the grounding principles of VRE is to refocus attention on the mundane as something that is special in its own right. The chapter focuses on to considering the editing of footage to produce clips to be shown at reflexive sessions, it may be worth reiterating that every stage of decision-making in the VRE process is an opportunity for what may be termed ‘analysis’.
