ABSTRACT
I have developed a methodology for providing a basic understanding of statistical process control (SPC) in a fun and enjoyable setting … at least to the extent allowed by the subject matter and workplace decorum. The methodology presented in this chapter has been successfully used to instruct people from a wide variety of skill and knowledge levels. Participants have ranged from hourly workers that were uncertain as to how to use a calculator to senior managers with at least some education in science and mathematics. The most challenging part for me as the instructor were the classes consisting mostly to entirely of engineers, as they wanted to indirectly teach the class. The most enjoyable part for me was the classes with hourly workers with a strong desire to learn what, for them, was a difficult subject.
