ABSTRACT

Building commitment within all of the projects' stakeholders is essential, but few project managers seem to understand how important it is and know how to do it. They also do not know how easily it can be eroded. The commitment process is made up of three phases: Preparation, Acceptance, and Commitment. An individual or organization moves from one stage to the next, the commitment to the change increases. Also, the degree of effort and time required to invest in the innovative change management (ICM) process increases based on the degree of commitment required to support the change project. When implementing major change, there is a continuum of ICM strategies that can be used depending on the change and the degree of acceptance that the change must have for the targets. Internalized commitment occurs when the targets believe that the change reflects their personal beliefs, needs, and wants, as well as those of the organization.
