ABSTRACT

Perhaps tax is not very important for pricing decisions so long as the rate of return required from any product takes account of the level and structure of taxation in a general way and yields a big enough rate of return after tax. The sales-volume and market-share objectives for Gamma's batteries were both reduced, whilst those for shavers were both increased very considerably. Market-share objectives were stated as a percentage of the total market both in terms of sales volume and value. Profit also represents one part of the flow of cash within the company, and between it and the parent company or the shareholders. Simplest and most basic measure of profit was as an absolute sum of money. Having such a measure is a necessary part of the budgeting process, since budgets use the common measure of money to judge all of a firm's activities by a single standard.
