ABSTRACT

Microstructural analysis is a tool to determine grain size, phases present, chemical homogeneity, and distribution of phases. In this chapter, we are discussing about the blends (Schiff-base-functionalized dicyanate esters/ epoxy blends, azomethine functionalized dicyanate esters/epoxy blends, polyurethane (PU)/polyacrylonitrile (PAN)/GPR blends), composites (CDPNM/ epoxy/glass composites, epoxy-PU IPN/Woven glass composites, modified PMR PI/carbon fiber composites, PBz/jute fiber composites), nanocomposites (optically active-PI/OAPS nanocomposites, epoxy/cyanate ester functionalized POSS nanocomposites, eugenol-based PBz/Epoxy/OAPS nanocomposites, PBz-functionalized POSS nanocomposites, Unsaturated polyster (UPR)/silica nanocomposites, PBz/Silica nanocomposites, UPR/ alumina nanocomposites, UPR/nano-ZnO nanocomposites, UPR/CaCO3 nanocomposites, cyanate ester/CNT nanocomposites, polytriazoleimide/GO nanocomposites). The dispersion of the fibers/nanomaterials in the polymer matrix was studied using scanning electron microscopy, transmission electron microscopy, high-resolution transmission electron microscopy, atomic force microscopy, and energy dispersive X-ray analysis, and their effect on the thermal, mechanical, and electrical properties were discussed.
