ABSTRACT

This chapter looks at a dream series involving trauma, in which there is a further illustration of these principles and how to apply them. It highlights just a few pertinent points of the literature on trauma and nightmares. The context of the dream was the early part of therapy, and so the focus was on the overall big picture, exploring his past, in particular his numerous combat experiences. Noting that one is depicted as external and one internal, already people are sensing in that first dream that the inner motivation may win the day since it is internalized. Examining the characters in detail, individuals can see that the Invisible Storyteller (IS) is giving a clue as to why such difficulties may be. Finally, the chapter discusses the Trauma Dream Progression Track. The IS tells where the patient is today, even if the patient, for whatever reason, cannot.
