ABSTRACT

This chapter discusses some examples of highly specialized research papers that exhibit a range of writing styles and topics where students apply concepts, theories, and accepted wisdom in political science to real-life experiences. These papers build on the students’ training and knowledge in a subfield. Unlike standard research papers, the examples in the chapter require a special analytical structure to be considered complete. These techniques are not specific to the study of American government. The purpose of the No Child Left Behind Act (NCLB) is to increase accountability, improve student performance, and enhance learning environments through mandating or requiring that schools, teachers, and students demonstrate pre-established levels of proficiencies. The NCLB’s overarching goal is to close the achievement gap between different groups and subgroups of students, ensuring that no child is left behind. The NCLB contains five performance-based expressed objectives.
