White Privilege and American Society

This chapter examines how the United States government has helped to create, sustain, and hide the guarantees of white privilege via the process of white opportunity hoarding. Historical and contemporary challenges—via policy, movements, practices—to white privilege will also be reviewed to more fully grapple with the roads that might be pursued to identify and dismantle the institutional structures that support white privilege.
