ABSTRACT
Studio creative executives develop and nurture relationships with talent and their representatives, and each studio seeks to make a case for why writers, directors, and producers should want to work with it, rather than with another studio. An overall studios structure deal is an agreement by which a studio obtains the fully exclusive services of an individual for the term of the agreement. The nuances of the structure of the overall deal guarantee can have a significant impact on how much the talent may expect to earn over the life of the deal and how much the deal will actually cost the studio out of its own pocket. From the talent's perspective, recoupability is important because it defines the extent to which the talent may expect to earn any fees on top of the guaranteed annual compensation under the overall during the term of the agreement.
