ABSTRACT

The chapter on evaluation connects with the Organization Template (as mentioned above). The objectives of evaluation are debated, as it costs time and must have a clear purpose. Different types of evaluation are described, and issues of research design considered. Different kinds of measures are then described, both qualitative and quantitative, both quick and relatively time-consuming. Generalization and maintenance are key issues often forgotten, so the reader is encouraged to consider them here. Analysis of data is often tricky for teachers, so options are discussed. Finally, the form of evaluation results and the need for feedback and dissemination is emphasized. In all of this the teacher is encouraged to think of how the peer group can help with gathering and indeed analyzing evaluation data.
