ABSTRACT
The United States has been going through social and technological change that appears to cause problematic political and economic behaviors that are having a profound effect upon the economic and political status of all Americans. Households in the upper class and those in upper middle class are becoming much wealthier, and most of those in the middle and lower class are seeing considerably slower growth in income. Politicians are reflecting this change in the way that they appeal to Americans.
