ABSTRACT

210 211 The Luckey Chance, or an Alderman’s Bargain, the last of Behn’s original plays to be performed in her lifetime, was staged in the Spring of 1686 by the United Company. It had a strong cast, with the duped old men being played by the comic duo of James Nokes and Anthony Leigh, while another famous comedian, Thomas Jevon, played the young fop. Betterton acted the hero and Elizabeth Barry the heroine.
