ABSTRACT
Rodents are one of the most successful groups of animals. The magnitude of the success of rodents in the terrestrial habitats of tropical regions is indicated by the numerical abundance of the group, the large number of species and the wide morphological variability in the group to suit existence in the soil for fossorial species, on land for terrestrial species, on tree tops for arboreal species and inside buildings for commensal forms.
