ABSTRACT
This chapter discusses research on those who bring exceptional or non-ordinary experiences to mental health professionals and how they are received. A discussion about the importance of considering the dead in terms of a literal experience is explained and advocated in terms of its importance in establishing the integration of meaning. This is discussed in relation to the traditional symbolic perspective and why such an approach enhances one’s ability to integrate the experience of seeing the dead.
