ABSTRACT

In this chapter a Green’s function surface integral equation method (GFSIEM) will be presented that can be applied for calculating the absorption cross section of a metal nanoparticle in the quasi-static limit. In this limit it is assumed that the nanoparticle is much smaller than the wavelength in the surrounding medium, and smaller than the penetration depth for electromagnetic radiation into the nanoparticle material.
