ABSTRACT
An original exposition of the role of modern biblical cartography, as found in biblical atlases and histories of ancient Israel since the Renaissance, in shaping the past of Palestine. The role of the formation of nationalist sentiments behind the cartographic practice is traced in the historiography of ancient Israel, showing how this practice distorts a proper historical representation of ancient Palestine’s past.
