ABSTRACT

The afterword, or conclusion, to the book offers final thoughts on public relations writing, its evolving nature and how readers can apply its principles when approaching different types of writing in their personal and professional lives. It offers suggestions for readers who want to continue to strengthen their writing skills within a public relations or communications context. Suggestions include: becoming a connoisseur of current events by committing to consuming sources of hyperlocal, local, national and international news; purchasing and reviewing the annual edition of the Associated Press Stylebook; consuming industry publications to stay tapped into industry news; joining student and professional associations and organizations serving the communications community, such as the Public Relations Student Society of America (PRSSA) and the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA); and pursuing professional development opportunities offered through these organizations.
