ABSTRACT

This chapter will provide guidance on the main portion of the lesson. It is loosely based around guidance from the Teacher Enhancement Effectiveness Programme on planning for learning. I’ll begin with ideas for how to share new information with students in a way that builds momentum. I’ll then suggest learning activities that help students to understand how this new information relates to their enquiry and how it fits into their prior learning. Finally, there will be a range of activities suggested to enable students to apply the knowledge to demonstrate their new understanding. I will also make suggestions for scaffolding activities for those who need it, and providing extra challenge for those who desire it.
